Day 6, Photo 6

I am going to be quick, it is late, been a long fantastical day, and I will be joining my family to watch a movie.

Here is photo 6: sunshine. be creative. portray it in a new light. {yes, that was a pun.} find something cool.

Once again, I decided to do something atypical. ;) And my iphone added the effect of being weird and creating an epic picture all by itself.

So I give you, the moon. Which is totally sunlight, being reflected off the surface of the moon. :D

{Rather cool, eh? I think so.}

Anyway, I'll get to everyone's comments tomorrow, hopefully, and write a proper post about my epic day today!! :D

Reading

I am a super fast reader. I can down a 300 or 400 page book in a day. It’s not skim read or portioned. I can get it all and form my honest opinion on it.

But no. For the girl that reads as much as she breathes, this post is not about a book.

It is about people.

I am horrible at reading people. I love people. More than I can even say. There is a part of me that comes alive when I am around them, particularly people who are alive with life, vibrant, beautiful, full of personality, and in love with God. I enjoy being around them, listening to them, laughing with them, crying with them…

But I do a horrible job at forming judgment about people. I cannot understand what they want. I do not get what they are feeling. I feel caught, trapped, in a world of my own, separated from all that they are.

I have always lived with a rosy view of the world. Everything is happy, not because it is perfect, but because I have decided to look at it with delight in my eyes.

I had a very painful childhood. Something happened to me that I have opened up to few people about that shaped who I am. It forms me more than anything else.

But it taught me one thing more than anything else.

To look at life with the decision in my heart to be happy.

Happiness is not something that happens. It is something you choose.

Because of that, I fail to understand a lot of the way people feel, because I have trained myself to smile even when I am in pain. I have made the decision to laugh even when I want to cry. I told myself to ignore the rejection even when I wanted to shout at the world.

I put my rose-colored glasses on and only looked at the good.

Sometimes, that is a good thing!! I get to see people in a light that most others do not. I enjoy their good points without finding their flaws. I can relish the joy they bring me without dwelling on the pain I get too.

And other times it is bad.

When I don’t understand them. When I cannot get what they are feeling. Because those feelings are alien to me. I am not washed with uncontrollable emotion. About anything. Except utter joy.

I do not understand what they mean when they say certain things and do certain stuff… I am confused, bewildered, caught with my mouth open with nothing to say…

I am not sure if I can learn this art. I have tried. I have studied people, tried to anticipate what they are feeling, how they will react, what they want, why they said that, where they are going with that. What are they thinking right now? What's in their head? What are their motivations for doing that?

I wish I knew.

But I don’t. I can’t. I am stuck with my glasses on and the rims hold back full vision.

I am Divergent

I was finally brave.

I borrowed the book. A book that, like The Hunger Games, is rather...controversial.

I have come to several conclusions.

First of all, I really need to form all opinions based upon my own research and collected information, not upon other peoples...opinions.

Second, I need to read more dystopian fantasy.

Divergent.

I read it because so many people were talking about it. Some said it was good. Others said it was bad. I sat in the middle and watched from the fence, like usual. {I find myself on that fence a lot, actually.}

The story is about a girl who lives in a word divided by factions. You live in your faction, you breath your faction, you are your faction.

Unless you are...Divergent.

Divergence is when you have mixed desires. You can be anything. You are not easily understood...or controlled. Because you have a mind of your own, a mind that can wander between many things. You are not just brave {Dauntless}, you are smart {Erudite}. You are not just selfless {Abnegation}, you are peaceful {Amity}...

You understand.

I'm not going to give you a full rundown of the book. I won't spoil it for you if you haven't read it. If you have, you know all you need to know.

But I have come to the conclusion that I am very Divergent. Different, a little confused, and definitely not what people expect me to be. Sometimes I can be very withdrawn. Sometimes I am excessively outgoing. I am perplexing and I know it.

I don't relish it.

It is me.

But at least I can put my finger on a name now.

From now on, if anyone wants to know what my personality type is...I will tell them Divergent.

Hopefully they will understand.

If not.

LOL.

It will only add to the mystery that is, well...me. ;)

Day 5, Photo 5

Some days you just want to sit around and do nothing.

I haven't had one of those days in literal months.

A day with no expectations, nobody asking you to do anything, nothing planned....

It would be nice.

And then I look around at all the fantastical things that have been going on in my life and I realize how much of a blessing it is that I get to be a part of this crazy life!!

Yesterday we {my Mum, little bro Keaton, sis Abrienne and I} went to a friend's college graduation party. We went after church, but we had time to spare, so we went to park beforehand to swing!

I LOVE swinging. Call me a child. I don't care. I am addicted to swings.

Keaton and I had a complete blast swinging while NN painted her nails and Mum watched. We sang our own reenditionings of "Singing on the Swing", "Food, Glorious Food", and several others. ;) There was a huge group of people having a party at the park too, but it was so much fun I couldn't help myself, so I laughed, and sang anyways. ~_*

Right before we left, I asked Mum to take a picture of Keaton, NN, and I. They are my two youngest siblings.

My two favorite blondes in the whole wide world.

Thadden, me, Brisa, Abrienne

This is the result of a very pleasant walk with Thadden, Brisa, and Abrienne a while back. :D

And before I go, here is MY picture 5. happiness in a jar. This is mint tea, the best beverage in the whole wide world. :D :D

I wonder...

Yesterday was bitter/sweet. It was our last day of choir for the year. And our choir teacher is leaving and not coming back. I am not actually in the choir, since I am graduated, but I was assistant teacher in both the high school and middle school choirs, and I love our choir director so much. She is so much fun and such an inspiration.

But, despite the sadness of the day, I managed to have a little fun. ;)

There was v-ball at orchestra, as usual. {Always awesome.}

After that I went to a last minute soccer game that our high school team wanted to play against the woman's team. {I am on the woman's team.}

We won, but I felt bad...mostly because all of the highschoolers are my friends. I played the entire game, too, which was awesome, because there were only 6 of our team there. That was exhausting. But epic.

And after that we played sand volleyball!!! Which was super great! I haven't played v-ball in the sand since I was 12 or 13. I enjoyed it a lot. I think I am going to try to put together a v-ball party sometime this summer and play at the sand court!

While we were playing one of the v-balls got stuck way up at the top of a tree, so I climbed all the way up and pulled it out. :D I love climbing trees!!!

All in all, it was an epic day.

Sometimes I struggle with understanding people. The human heart is so complex and relationships so diverse that no two parts can be counted alike. I am still such a klutz at talking... I am constantly forgetting what I was saying, saying the wrong things, or having NO CLUE what to say. Still, I look around my at my friends and wonder...just what is it that makes them want to by my friend? Why do they care if I am here? What keeps them from walking away?

I know why I am their friend. I know why I love them.

Just a few of the random thoughts flowing through my mind today, spurred on by a conversation I had yesterday.

God has been so good to me the last few months. He has done some extraordinary things, miracles that can be only explained by His magnificent hand. And they have been for me. ME.

It is so humbling. I cannot wait to see what He will do next in my life.

Day 4, Photo 4

Yep. It's time for the next picture!!! How exciting, eh?

Especially for Jonnah. :D

This picture is:

4: you and a book. any way you want it. just a picture of you and a book {or two, or three, or 300.}

Hahaha! I look forward to seeing this one! :D

Me. With Emerson's Essays. :D

Good night all.

I am going to SDC tomorrow! {Silver Dollar City, for my non-Missouri brethren. It is an amusement park!!} I am soooo hyped! :D

Hopefully I'll get some awesome pictures. We'll see! :D

P.S. The next picture is due May 21st.

When strange...only get's stranger...

I was tagged twice this week by Cait {and Mime, but they count as one!} and Jordan for the same award! For the fun of it, I am going to do both of their questions. Thanks girls, this is exciting!!! :D

~ each nominee must answer 11 questions. {I'll be answering 22!!!! :D}
~ create 11 questions for the next nominees to answer. {I will NOT be asking 22.}
~ link back to who nominated them
~ choose 11 people and link them to your post
~ go to their page and tell them {I'll try.... ;)}
~ no tag backs! {:P Fine. Spoil sports. Jk, jk....}

Firstly, Cait's {Mime's} 11 questions:

 1. Favourite character in your work-in-progress?

{Merrie. But I also like Ionez. And since they are stand alone characters within one book, I think I can say that..... right? Right?! Oh, good. :D}

 2. Does music influence your writing? What's a song that's inspired you?

{YES! I am never NOT listening to music. All day. Most of the night. Right now I am really fond of the Pearl Harbor Soundtrack by Hans Zimmer. I've never seen the movie (someone tell me, is it any good??) but the soundtrack is simply heavenly!!!}

 3. Do you prefer writing in present tense or past tense? Why?

{Present. I enjoy the rush of things as they currently happen....}

 4. Name a random fact a book taught you.

{Hmmm....random fact? As in, the way The Hunger Games taught me how important a great, powerful backstory is? Because it did. :D}

 5. Favourite foods to snack on while reading/writing.

{Haha. Chewy candy. Any kind. Sweet, sticky, and not chocolate. Usually I have a bag of starburst, jellybeans, hot tamales (my favorite!), or gummy worms. ;) I also usually have a sibling sitting next to me.}

 6. Name 3 books you can't wait until are released.

{Oh, seriously, Cait!!! Don't kill me...but I really don't keep up with books that come out. I more just...wait until they are out.}

 7. Name a sequel that outshone it's predecessor.

{Catching Fire. In fact, I didn't like The Hunger Games hardly at all and it took me six months to pick up Catching Fire. And THEN I was hooked. So, yeah, if THG had been stand alone, I prolly wouldn't have cared for it. But I liked Catching Fire and Mockingjay a LOT.}

 8. Best side-kick/secondary-character you've read this year?

{I have read way too few books this year. It has been rushing past and I've probably only downed about 20 books... In those, I would have to say, most were uninspiring... And seriously, it's past 1:00 in the morning and I can't think of any.... :P}

 9. Favourite quote!

{Ah, Cait, you know me too well!!! I have WAY too many favorite quotes. I couldn't even begin to select one as a favorite... But I might say this is one of my many favorites:

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat. "We're all mad here."

 10. Do you have any reading goals for 2013? Are you on track?!

{None whatsoever. I have been so busy with getting this monstrous book finished that, truth be told, I have done little reading this year (as I stated above). It will be good to be able to have time to sit down and read a good book again!!}

 11. If you were a superhero would you wear a cape?

{It would depend. I might, if the occasion called for it. I like to dress up. But I think sometimes they get in the way and I would far rather be handy than ornamented.}

Jordan's 11 questions:

1. Best book you've ever read?

{Aside from the Bible, I would say Mara, Daughter of the Nile, because it has stayed with me as my favorite for over seven years. Such an impacting, beautiful book!!}

2. Do you like reading/writing nonfiction or fiction better? (I think I know most of the answers to this)

{Historical fiction!!!!!! Haha. Well, actually, believe it or not, I love to read non-fiction. I tend to suck up all books, no matter the subject matter. ;) My favorite kind of non-fiction are history, political, or spiritual growth books.}

3. You're being chased by thousands of bees/ wasps. What do you do?

{Yikes. Hopefully NOT die. Probably jump into a pond. And I wouldn't care if it was the filthiest pond under the sun. :P Let me repeat. Yikes.}

4. If you could meet a book character (without having to enter their world) who would it be?

{Wow! Only ONE!!! How could I ever choose? I long to meet so many of them. In fact, I want to be friends with oodles of them... But, if I had to pick one... Probably Anne of Green Gables. Because she is just like me. And we'd get along famously. And I'd invite her to sleep in our ornamental pear tree. Because we haven't got any cherry trees to be all silvery in the moonlight.}

5. Do you like reading/writing from a male or female perspective more? Why?

{Hmmm, that is a tough one. I had actually not given it much thought. It is definitely different writing from a guy's perspective. I find myself going to my Dad a lot and asking him whether *this* is how a guy would say something or whether *this* is something a guy would think... I would say I am probably better at writing from a girl's perspective, simply because I AM a girl and know how we are and think...but that would be the only reason I might like it better.}

6. Loki just showed up at your doorstep asking you to help in his world-domination plots. What do you do? Why?

{Take a picture.

Post it to facebook.

Wait for the whole world of girls to show up at my door.

Hand them over to Loki.}

7. If you could play one character from your favorite book in a movie who would it be? Why?

{Eeeek!! You have to ask all the tough questions! Can I answer the same as last time? Anne, all the way!!! Though Anne of Green Gables in not my favorite book, she is like my twin. But I would totally love to play Mara too, she is not very....un-me. Kind of sad and angry. I'm not. But either one would work fine for me. Just playing in a movie would in itself be delight beyond compare (unless you want to take me skydiving...or tour the word)!!}

8. Any 2013 movies your excited about?

{Um...YES!!!! The next Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, Thor 2: The Dark World, Catching Fire, and The Desolation of Smaug, to be sure. There are others, but these are the important ones, so to speak. ;)}

9. Name a stand-alone book that you think should have been made a series.

{I can't. I think all the books that I think should have been made into a series are and all the books that are stand alone I think should be that way. In fact, I kind of like it when books are just...done. And then, I love it when they go on.... ;)}

10. Do you prefer writing in first, second, or third person? Why?

{I have mostly written in third person, dabbled a wee bit in first person, and never in second person (for an entire novel, rather). I think I kind of like writing in first person, because you get more heart and soul into  it. But it's weird, because I sort of prefer to read third person.}

And finally
11. How do you sort the books on your bookshelf?

{Hahaha....do you even want to know? Well, first, my top shelf is all the hardbacks with really cool covers and that are mostly old. The second shelf is all old books, also hardcover. The third shelf is split in half. One side is also old hardbacks, the other side paperbacks that are nice. The bottom shelf is entirely random...except that they are organized by size and are all books I haven't read or want to read again. Then....I have a whole other shelf of overflow that consists of stacking however many books I can manage into as little space as possible. Plus I have two stacks on my floor, arranged by size so they don't fall... Hehe...I bet you didn't expect that. I am a bit OCD. Ok, a lot. But only about my things. And only about certain of my things. :D}

Now, my 11 questions.

1. If you knew it would turn into a Prince, would you kiss a frog?
2. Are you an outdoorsy sort of person, or do you prefer to be curled up on the couch inside?
3. What sort of books do you enjoy?
4. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you go?
5. How would you describe your personality?
6. What fictional character {book/movie/TVshow} do you relate with most in life?
7. If you could time travel, would you want to go back into the past or forward into the future?
8. What are you listening to? Right. Now.
9. Do you know what your calling in life is yet?
10. What is your favorite dessert?
11. Do you like old movies? What are a few you really like?

And now for the 11 people I tag.

Lacey

All done. Phew. That was sooooooooo much fun!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

I did an interview!!!!!!

No, seriously, I did! With Miss Lacey over at A Thinking Place!!! And boy, did we have fun with it. :D

Hop on over to her blog and take a look!!

But before I dive into my questions for her, here is my picture for the 3rd Photo Challenge.

3. your pet {don't have one? borrow one!}

Yep. Really. This is my picture. You see, I went outside to get an epic picture of my pup. And that is just what I got. ;) Pretty awesome, just saying. ^_^

Ok, now on to the interview! Enjoy!!!

Me: Imagine a penguin walked through the door wearing a poncho. What would you do?

Lacey: Laugh until my sides hurt. And then give him a hug and fly him back home because penguins would never survive in California.

Me: If I came over for dinner, what would you make me?

Lacey: I’d make one of my favorite things: lasagna. Because I use a secret ingredient that nobody knows about besides my family and I love making it and seeing if the people I make it for can tell what it is. Hehe ;D

Me: I know this is like asking you to pick a favorite star in the heavens, but what is your favorite Bible verse?

Lacey: I don’t have one favorite. But one of many would be Matthew 11:28-30 – 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Me: What is the most interesting place you have ever been?

Lacey: In Sacramento, I got to sit in on a legislative meeting at the capitol building. They were debating about the budget (go figure) and how much money schools should get. That was interesting. But I’ve also been in caves and mountain peaks, which are far more interesting.

Me: You just moved, albeit not far. Do you like you new house?

Lacey: I think so. It’s definitely a huge change… it’s smaller and in town. I’ve always lived in the country so I am not used to living so close to other people. I don’t really like that part of it. But the boy across the street is pretty cute so there’s that ;)

Me: What is the most extraordinary thing God has ever done in your life?

Lacey: One “big” thing occurred three years ago. My sister and I were in a car wreck and would have died or been seriously injured if our car was pointing just a little more in one direction. Somehow I managed to point us towards a fence and we barreled into that instead. I remember lying there in my car in shock and people were running around and suddenly this wild-haired man ran up to me and told me not to move, that his wife is a nurse and she was calling an ambulance. I just remember looking at him and thinking he looked really crazy and like he just rolled out of bed, but I trusted him so I didn’t move. Later at the hospital I found out that if I had moved I would have screwed up my spine. I asked my sister and other people about the guy, but nobody knew who he was or remembered seeing him. I don’t know if he was a real person or something else… but I know he was there for a reason and Someone was looking out for me.

Me: Do you like to read? If so, do you like modern book or older books better?

Lacey: I like a good mix of both, but I think I haven’t read enough modern books to give a good judgment! J

Me: How many siblings do you have?

Lacey: Five. I’m number six

Me: Are you a people person or would you rather be at home?

Lacey: Depends on the people and my mood. I am definitely a homebody but I wouldn’t pass up a chance to spend time with best friends and family. I have to be in a particular mood to be willing to go out and meet new people.

Me: ‘A Thinking Place' is a title that definitely inspires one to pause and reflect. What kind of thinking do you tend to do?

Lacey: Oh, lots of things. I worry a lot about my family members; their safety and their health. I also like to think I’m a pretty introspective person… I soak in a lot of what people say around me and consider their opinions and perspectives. I try to think outside the box and I think I’m pretty creative in my thoughts. I think about God, but I think about myself too much.

Me: Are you dreamy? Or maybe more practical?

Lacey: I definitely have strong creative/dreamy tendencies. My English teacher started laughing at me once during class last year because I was spacing out staring out the window at an airplane. Haha. But, I also tend to be organized and practical as well. I don’t know. It’s a toss-up!

Me: Who doesn’t love music? What is your favorite song?

Lacey: Again, don’t have a favorite. I’m a romantic so I love most love songs. I’m really into super jazzy and swing stuff; anything like Sinatra, Como, Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis… yeah. I also love classic rock. Stuff like Fleetwood Mac, Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp. My heart is in older music :)

Me: Do you enjoy quotes? What’s a good one you like to live by?

Lacey: Who doesn’t? I don’t have any that I tell myself every day or anything like that. One that I saw the other day that I really like is, “We must be our own before we can be anothers.” –Emerson.

Me: Sweet or sour?

Lacey: Sweet! I beat myself up about that for awhile when I was a teenager, because it seemed like all the cool kids preferred sour candy. And I really didn’t get it. But now I embrace my sweet tooth. Bring on the cookehs.

Me: What is your favorite color?

Lacey: Green!

Me: Do you have a dream job? What makes you want to do *that*?

Lacey: Yup. Baker. I want to do that because I love baking, and food brings people together.

I had soooo much fun doing this with her! If anyone else would like to do a swap-interview, just shoot me a comment and let me know! :D :D

a little bit of something

First off, the Photo Challenge is hitting it off with...one participant. But hey, that's all good! Jonnah will be sure to win the prize at this rate! Thankfully for all of you, you can join at any point {though the judges are more likely to appreciate a good selection of pics, so you better get the film rolling}.

And yes...the judges.

They are two of them. And I figure now is as good a time as ever to introduce you to them!!! They are both very dear friends of mine and both appreciate photo beauty.

The first is my dear friend and neighbor, Lauren!!! We are co-workers and best friends!! {I must clarify that I have LOTS of best friends. I am very blessed. Extraordinarily so.}

Lauren!!!!!!

{She is simply a beauty, is she not!!!} She is a very skilled photographer {though she would never say it herself} and appreciates beauty in all things.

And Brisa!!!

Brisa is my sister, one of my best friends, and such a blessing to me. I love her sooooooo much. She is the one I go on walks with and talk for hours to. She knows every little thing about me. Literally. All my flaws. All my hopes and dreams. All my desires. Yep. You want to know something about me? Go ask Brisa. She'll know. ^_^

And she also happens to be stunning. :D

I will be posting the my pic #3 {which is your pet, btw, since I forgot to mention it before... ~_*} tomorrow.

Today is Mother's Day. I could go on for hours about my mother, but I am not going to. Instead, I am simply going to tell you what I told her.

This is from a letter I wrote her today...

Today is called Mother's Day because it is the day we have set aside to commemorate mums. But I think every day is Mother's Day. I am so grateful God decided to give you to me as my Mum. I hope that I can be half as good a Mommy to my children as you are to me. You are a real example to me of a Godly women, patient, kind, cherishing.... You know everything about me. Everything. And I love that. You are not afraid to tell me the truth, encourage me, and guide me in life. I don't know what I would do without you. I am sooooo blessed to call you Mum.

This weekend we threw a surprise b-day party for another one of my best friends, Grace. {She blogs HERE, btw, and is a fantastic writer. Go look at her blog!!!} Well, it was sort of a surprise party. She arrived before some of us {including ME!!!!} even did... ;) But it was super fun anyway. I love her sooooooooooo much! She is so awesome. And loves God with all her heart. And is perfectly gorgeous.

Rachel says she is giving a creepy smile. But I say, creepy smile or not, she is such a cutie! Not everyone can pull off a creepy smile and still look so stinkin' adorable.

Also, I finished another drawing this week!! Hurrah! :D

This is it.

Tomorrow I am going to be doing an interview!!! Lacey from A Thinking Place is going to be hosted over here and she is going to interview me at her blog! Because my computer is having all sorts of picture problems right now, I am going to put up the pics I want her to use here.... For some reason my blog is the only place my comp. will allow me to upload pics. I am thankful I can at least do it here!! Neither fb nor email are working right now. :P

So, anyway, Lacey, I will try to explain where the pics belong and if you have any questions just email me. ;)

For the "my family question", all of the following pics {order at your own discretion}:

For the "sports" question:

{Me playing v-ball. You can specify I am in the purple and my sis has the ball...sorry you can't see my face. I couldn't find any anywhere of me looking at the camera. I am always with my back to it.}

{Soccer}

{And the two mix! Volley ball with a soccer ball.}

{This pic was over a year old, truth be told. But it is the only one I could find of me playing four square. ;)}

For the "business" question:

{Two of my dogs, Silver in front, Tizona in back.}

{My other puppy, Orcrist (affectionately dubbed Pickle)}

If you want a picture of me without doing anything goofy, just take the one of me and Grace from the top of the post!! I like that one a lot. ;)

 I think that is it. But if you want more let me know!!!! :D

just a moment of your time...and mine

This is probably the fastest post I have ever written, just saying.

I forgot to post the deadline for the next photo challenge picture. It will be the 13th.

I will get to everyone's comments later. But for now, I must skedaddle... :D

I hate purple

I lied.

But I did promise pics and I'll give you pics.

;)

The beauty of the world outside today...it was breathtaking. I went on a long walk with my sister today and spent about three or four hours enjoying the sunshine, gentle breeze, and heartwarming conversation with her.

And taking picture of all things purple. God loves me. He decorates even the ditch with purple. Just for me. ^_^

{I really like how the flowers are out of focus and the sky is the highlight...It was accidental, but I think it's beautiful!!}

{This is for Noni. ^_^ I saw this and instantly thought of you.}

And now I must sign out. Stuff to do, places to go, things to be....

;)
